Remarks

» Note diagnostic purple upper tail coverts of the bensoni ssp contrasting with the lighter blue parts of the tail and the more yellowish belly which separate it from the male of the Miombo Sunbird (Cinnyris manoensis manoensis) which also occurs here but has methyl-blue upper tail coverts and a creamier belly. This is also called the Forest Double-collared Sunbird.
