Remarks
» Sex; do not know. Age; adult. Subspecies; too confusing to make out. Udzungwa Mts, June 2007. Copyright@; Louis A. Hansen. Remark on the lesser and pallid honeyguides: the various books I have consulted (Birds of Africa, Zimmerman et al. 1996, Stevenson&Fanshawe 2001, Short&Horne 2001), gives confusing information and the illustrations are contradicting. So a word of causing to those of us who do not see these species often. When trying to identifying these smart birds, check the over all size, outer tail pattern, malar stripe. And finally, look at those nostrils! Very poorly illustrated in books - because illustrators often and only study museum skin!
