» Black-billed Wood-hoopoe sometimes show red base of bill and sometimes, like this bird, mostly red bill. Especially ssp abyssinicus is known for this, but this picture is taken well within the range of ssp neglectus. However the distribution of these races in Ethiopia is uncertain, so I don't know for sure if this bird is ssp abyssinicus or neglectus.
